A graduate of Barcelona’s Conservatoire of Music, pianist and composer Clara Bes also holds a degree in Instrument Pedagogy from the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC). Ms. Bes is lead composer of two projects: Solituds, with Miquel Barcelona, and Before We Go, with Ivan Andrade. She has written scores for cinema (Mi cuerpo inerte en un paraje desolado by Alejandra Borja) and for videodance (Sinera, Ballant Espriu, and 1714) in collaboration with CligBcn.
As a visual artist, Ms. Bes earned a degree in Editing and Sound at the Catalan Centre for the Studies of Cinematography (CECC). She became a professional photographer in 2005, specializing in dance photography. She has worked for dancers from all around the world, like Miquel Barcelona, Tere Belza, Meritxell Checa, Gisela Creus, Satoko Kojima, Hansel Nezza, Sílvia Brosssa, Maura Morales, Victoria Pérez Miranda, Toni Gómez, Iker Gomez (Absurdo), Susan Kempster (Perfect World), Moreno Bernardi (Xiuxiueig), Pepe Hevia (Odonata) or CobosMika (Wish). In theatre, she has worked for companies such as Les Impuxibles (Tot és fum, (A)murs, a love story), La Barni Teatre (El projecte dels bojos), Gataro (Black Rider and Cinc noies i un vestit), Ángeles Ciscar (Persona), Lara Sendim (Exacte, el món com no és) or Mariona Castillo (Les dones de Guido Sarli) among others.
Ms. Bes’ photographs have been exhibited in a variety of galleries and artistic spaces, such as Taller22, Cotxeres Borrell and Círcol Maldà. Some of her work can be found here.
Ms. Bes is also founder of nunArt where she is responsible for all the graphics and design (posters, photography, etc.), broadcasting and documentation.
In 2015, Clara and Ivan co-founded The Amateurs with the objective of producing their own inter-disciplinary small and medium size shows, in Spain and the UK.
